Pokemon TCG Pocket Surpasses 60 Million Downloads as Booster Island Expansion Launches
The mobile card game has generated an estimated $300 million in revenue. The new Booster Island expansion adds 80 cards and a single-player campaign.
Pokemon TCG Pocket has crossed 60 million downloads worldwide, The Pokemon Company announced this week. The milestone comes just days after the launch of "Booster Island," the mobile game's latest major content expansion.
The free-to-play digital card game, which distills the Pokemon TCG into quick two-prize matches, has been a runaway hit since its October 2024 launch. Booster Island introduces a new single-player campaign mode alongside over 80 new cards drawn from classic and modern Pokemon generations.
Revenue figures tell an even more striking story. Industry analysts estimate TCG Pocket has generated over $300 million in lifetime revenue, making it one of the most successful mobile card games ever released. The game's gacha-style pack-opening mechanic — where players peel cards off the screen — has proven unusually sticky with casual audiences.
The physical TCG continues to perform strongly alongside its digital counterpart. Rather than cannibalizing paper sales, TCG Pocket appears to be driving new players into the hobby, with retailers reporting increased demand for introductory products.
