All Guides/One Piece Card Game

The fastest-growing TCG of 2024. One Piece Card Game features aggressive gameplay where life is a resource. Every turn matters in this action-packed game featuring Luffy, Zoro, and the entire Straw Hat crew.

01

What is One Piece Card Game?

One Piece Card Game brings the high-seas adventure of the manga and anime to card form. Released globally in 2022, it quickly became one of the world's most popular TCGs thanks to its accessible rules, beautiful alternate art cards, and aggressive gameplay.

The game features a unique "Don!!" resource system and Leader cards that define your strategy. Unlike other TCGs, your life total IS your hand size - taking damage actually helps you by drawing cards!

02

Basic Rules & Objective

Objective: Reduce your opponent's Leader card from its starting life to 0.

Deck Requirements: 50 cards exactly, plus 1 Leader card and up to 10 Don!! cards (provided by game, not in deck).

Setup: Place your Leader card in the Leader area. Place your 10 Don!! cards in the Don!! deck. Draw 5 cards for opening hand. Check starting life on Leader (usually 4-5). Take that many cards from deck as life and place face-down.

Key Concept: When you take damage, cards from your life go to your hand! Low life = more cards but closer to losing.

03

Turn Structure

Each turn follows these phases:

  1. Refresh Phase: Stand all your rested cards and your Leader
  2. Draw Phase: Draw 2 cards from your deck
  3. Don!! Phase: Add 2 Don!! cards to your Don!! area. You can then attach them to Characters or your Leader
  4. Main Phase: Play Characters, Events, and Stages. Activate abilities. Attack with Leader and Characters.
  5. End Phase: Discard down to 10 cards. "End of turn" effects trigger.

You can attack multiple times per turn with different Characters!

04

Card Types & Colors

Leaders: Define your deck's color and strategy. Have life and power. Can attack once per turn.

Characters: Your main force. Have cost, power, and sometimes effects. Attack opponent's Leader or Characters.

Events: One-time effects. Play from hand during Main Phase.

Stages: Permanent effects that stay on field.

The Six Colors: Red (aggressive), Green (ramp), Blue (control), Purple (defensive), Black (mill/trash), Yellow (midrange). Most decks use 1-2 colors.

Don!! Cards: Your resource. Attach to Characters to boost power or pay for costs. Give +1000 power when attached for attack.

05

How to Win

Win by reducing opponent's Leader to 0 life:

  1. Combat Damage: When your Character or Leader attacks opponent's Leader, they take damage equal to attacker's power divided by 1000 (rounded down). Leader with 5000 power deals 5 damage!
  2. Counter Step: Defender can play Counter cards from hand to boost Leader's power for that battle
  3. Trigger Effects: When you take damage, reveal cards going from life to hand - some have "Trigger" abilities that activate!

Pro Tip: Managing Don!! is key. Do you spend them on big plays now, or save for powerful attacks later? When to attach for power vs. paying costs?
